Model United Nations is a concept that operates around the world under the name of extracurricular or club activities at high schools and universities. Participating students undertake the role of United Nations Delegate in the company of advisors, thus aiming to provide students with an awareness of problems by simulating their work towards international problems.
The 'SMKIMUN' Conference aims to inform its participants about world issues, to reveal the treasures of knowledge in the four days of the conference, and to set up its participants as the leaders of tomorrow.
Consequently, as the Sehit Mehmet Karaaslan International Anatolian Imam Hatip High School, we aim for the youth to find solutions to world problems, to listen to each other's opinions patiently and respectfully and to develop their persuasion skills. We plan to hold the SMKIMUN'21 Conference on May 21-24, using the Harvard MUN procedure (HMUN) of the world's largest United Nations Conference. (If the Covid pandemic continues, our MUN program will be carried out on-line)
The message of General Secretary
Dear participants, dear guests, dear consultants and delegates.
We are very happy and honoured to host you at the Model United Nations Conference (SMKİMUN), which will be held for the first time by the Sehit Mehmet Karaaslan International Anatolian Imam Hatip High School. In our conference, we aim to discuss the basic problems of the world and to produce balanced and integrated solutions to complex issues of international importance. In fact, we aim to reveal the potential talents that everyone has, to ensure that delegates represent and defend their countries in the best way, to improve the language skills of all delegates and participants, and to ensure that they speak as qualified speakers, without making any kind of mistakes in public. In our conference, it is our priority to be politically, economically and socially conscious, to build our future correctly and to solve the problems of the world altogether.
In our conference, which will be held for the first time this year, it is our priority to carefully implement all our measures in order to protect the participants in the best way against the Covid-19 virus, which affects the whole world.
Our conference will be held in three languages: Turkish, English and Arabic. The United Nations High Commission on Health (English) is a committee that deals with all the problems we face and experience during the 'Covid-19' pandemic, especially in accordance with health and economy. The first special commission "Digital Age" (English) examines the impact on states and the networks, and the projects they offer to humanity and the armaments. Under the special commission of the International Court of Justice (Arabic), "International Leadership War", issues such as global citizenship will be covered. In our second special Arabic commission, we aim to fully address '2020' issues and also to find different solutions. Turkish committee details can be seen in our committee section.
Finally, we wish all our participants to develop themselves at a high level and have a successful experience. We would be honoured to welcome you to our school.
Regards,
Secretary-General of SMKIMUN'21
