Regulating the Use of Private Military and Security Companies
Private Military and Security Companies (PMSCs) play a significant role in modern conflict and security operations. PMSCs operate outside conventional military structures controlled by states. They are employed and assigned by governments, and international organizations. They often engage in combat, intelligence gathering, logistical assistance, and security services, making them crucial actors in conflicts.
On the other hand, these PMSCs function in a legal gray area, raising legal and ethical issues. Thus, PMSCs inherently require to be questioned about their accountability, compliance, and oversight. They do not have clear guidelines on engaging in conflicts or any assistance. Reports of using excessive force, violating human rights, and having a lack of transparency show the need for regulations and clear guidelines.

Enhancing Ways to Avoid the Effects of Ongoing Global Conflicts on Trade
ECOFIN, the second General Assembly committee was established in 1945 in order to address issues in global finance, and its core mandates relate to economic development, sustainability and globalization. During times of conflict, the international economy gets affected in a way that would threaten the flow of global trade. Countries have implemented many laws and regulations aiming to decrease the negative outcomes of conflicts. Yet, there are still many improvements needed to maintain the equilibrium of the international market.

Accomplishing Freedom of Press and Protection of Journalists Within Conflict Zones
When faced with conflict, accomplishing freedom of press and the protection of journalists is not just a matter of principle, it is a fight for information and truth in the face of brutality. Within war zones, journalists risk everything to deliver the truth of conflict to the world, yet they are met with violence, imprisonment, and even death. Silencing the press in such conflict allows war crimes to go unnoticed, corruption to blossom and for history to be changed undercover. This agenda calls for urgent international action: stronger protections, legal accountability, and absolute support for those who risk everything to expose the reality of conflict to the world. Without press freedom, the world is left in the dark and darkness is where injustice thrives.

Whaling in the Antarctic (Australia v. Japan)
Whaling in the Antarctic brought before the International Court of Justice highlighted a significant legal and environmental dispute over Japan's whaling program, JARPA II. Filed by Australia on 31 May 2010, the case alleged that Japan's large-scale whaling activities, conducted under the guise of scientific research, violated the International Convention for the Regulation of Whaling (ICRW) and other international obligations to protect marine life. This landmark case questioned the legitimacy of Japan’s reliance on Article VIII of the ICRW, which permits whaling for scientific purposes, and examined whether the design and implementation of JARPA II aligned with its stated objectives.

Re-evaluation of Legislative Measures Regarding the Potential Ban of TikTok in the United States
TikTok, a social media platform owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, has faced scrutiny from lawmakers over allegations that its data collection practices pose a national security risk and that its algorithm could be used to spread misinformation. While previous legislative attempts have sought to ban the app or force its divestiture from Chinese ownership, the issue remains contentious, with arguments over First Amendment rights, economic impact, and the broader implications of government intervention in technology and free expression.
The U.S. Senate will engage in a comprehensive re-evaluation of legislative measures concerning the potential ban of TikTok, considering factors such as cybersecurity risks, international trade relations, corporate accountability, and the rights of American citizens. Senators will navigate the delicate balance between protecting national security interests and preserving the freedoms guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution.
